Himalayan 450 Tank Bag

Himalayan 450 Tank Bag
Viking Odyssey 1L tank bag

When I first got the bike, I did not think I would put on a tank bag. I put one on my Triumph but kept going back and forth for the Himalayan. After reading a number of posts about tank bags for this bike, I finally opted to purchase the Viking Odyssey 1L bag.

First, Viking bags are not very expensive. I liked this bag since it is 100% waterproof and it is small. I did not want a huge bag but wanted a place to store sunglasses, ear plugs, etc that we easy to access. Also, I did not want a bag that bumps me while riding or bumps the handlebars when turning. This bag fits the bill nicely.

The bag easily detaches from the bike. There is a harness that fits around the steering column and also two mounting points in the rear. Putting the harness on was VERY easy (the Triumph is VERY tight). I located where I wanted the bag to sit on the tank and while playing with the rear straps, found a good mounting point on the frame.

The rear straps are easy to adjust. One of the buckles you zip tie on the frame. The other strap you tighten until it is snug and press on the Velcro to hold it in place. If there is any leftover strap (mine had some), just fold it over and there is a strap that holds it in place.

I have had this on the bike now for over a month and had no problems with it. You will have to unbuckle the harness to fuel up but it is quick and painless. Now I have a place to store a number of smaller items so I do not need to keep things in my pockets.
