Lunch Lap 2026 - Vol 1
Its that time a year again where Sambuco's Barber Shop puts on the monthly Lunch Lap ride. The first ride was on a Saturday so that we could attend the Minibike Misfit Races at the Shadyside Dragway. The dragway is near Winston-Salem so this ride will be a nice long ride.
The day was threatening rain but it was supposed to be in the late afternoon. We left close to noon and headed out. There was about 20-25 bikes on this ride. Taking the backroads, it was a great ride to the first stop.

we stopped after about an hour of riding at a Marathon station. It allowed folks a bio-break, get fuel and/or a snack. After about 10 minutes, we gathererd back up and headed to the dragway.
After about another 45 minute ride, we got to the dragway. It was quite crowded but just as we arrived, it began to sprinkle. After wandering around and watching a few races, walked back to a trailer where I knew someone. We sat, ate, and chatted. Meanwhile the rain started to come downa bit harder AND the wind started to pick up.
Looking at the radar, the storm was approaching a bit sooner than anticipated. So after being there about 2-3 hours, I decided to suit up and head home. I wanted to beat the really big storm.
It was about 2 hours home and the first 45 mins was rain. Eventually the rain stopped and it was just wet roads. I finally got back home where the rain had not reached yet. I put the bike up, hung up the clothes to dry out and was just in time for dinner.
The ride itself was greatt as usual. I will not be able to attend the next one since it overlaps the Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Cannot wait for the next ride.
