New Himalayan Windshield

One of the first things you will notice about the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is that the windshield is tiny. I mean really small. I rode around with it for about 400 miles and said that is it. I want something to help deflect bugs and road trash.

I am not really sure what Royal Enfield was thinking but this windshield is way to small. It barely covers the back of the TFT. I mount a phone on the handlebars and it gets covered in bugs. I need something bigger. I do not want something huge but just enough so I can mount something behind it.
So I began searching the forums and RE sites looking for a replacement. There are a number of companies that do offer them. RE has one but it is just barely bigger than what is there. After looking at multiple companies, I opted for the WRS windshield.
There were a number of factors. One is price. These are very reasonably priced. I also liked the size. Not too large and not too small. Also this is one of the few that offered a tapered top lip. It is hard to see in the pictures but the top of the windscreen and curved/tapered up. This creates an even better block of wind hitting your body. So far the coverage is just what I wanted. It does not obscure my vision yet give me better wind coverage. Here you can see the size difference.

The installation is a snap. Maybe 5-10 minutes. All you need is a 5mm allen wrench. Just unscrew the four bolts on the front of the windscreen. Remove it.

Next, make sure you remove the 4 rubber grommets as they are not included with the new windscreen. These are easy to take out and install.

Take the four grommets from the old windscreen and add to the new one.
Once the grommets are installed, place the windscreen over the front of the bike and put in the four bolts. Tighten until they stop and then tighten a bit more to ensure they are seated.

That is all there is to it. Now go out and ride and enjoy the extra protection.
