Side Stand Enlarger for Himalayan

Side Stand Enlarger for Himalayan
Giving the side stand a bigger footprint

As I previously mentioned, there are a number of quick hits I had on my list of things to upgrade once I go the new bike. The side stand is yet another one of these upgrades. From past experience, having a larger footprint for you side stand is a MUST! On one of other bikes, I had it tip over due to this issue (it was parked in the grass). I purchased my enlarger from Src Moto.

I think on the Himalayan it is even more important. One thing noticed is that the motorcycle leans a LOT more than any previous bike I have had. I assume that puts a bit more weight on the side stand and having this larger footprint makes it less likely to sink in dirt/grass and also make a divot on hot asphalt.

The installation takes about 5 minutes. You will need 4mm hex key and a 10mm spanner. The first step it to take it apart. Just unscrew the 4 nuts and the stand will have 3 pieces.

Breakdown of the side stand enlarger

Put the bike on the center stand and pull the side stand down. The base plate (the one with the screws in it) will go underneath the side stand. The other top plate (the large piece) will go on top. You will need to place the top plate over the side stand foot before you can put it together.

Place the top plate ON the side stand before clamping it together

With the base plate under the foot, fit the top plate onto the screws. Once that is in place, place the final top piece on the screws as well. Once all together, put on the nuts. Then just start tightening them. Do not tighten one nut them move onto the next one. Instead, do them evenly. You will know when it is done once the spacers no longer spin.
