The Hill Bar and Grill
One of the things I enjoy most about riding a motorcycle is finding interesting places to stop along the way. It doesn't always have to be a destination hundreds of miles from home. Sometimes, a good local bar and grill is all the excuse I need to get the motorcycle out of the garage.
The Hill Bar & Grill is one of those places.
Located in the Charlotte area, The Hill offers the kind of casual atmosphere that works well for a motorcycle ride. It's a place where you can pull up, grab something to eat, have a cold drink, and relax for a while before getting back on the road.
A Casual Place to Stop and Eat
The Hill Bar & Grill has the feel of a neighborhood hangout rather than a formal restaurant. It's the kind of place where you can come as you are, sit down, and enjoy a meal without making the experience complicated.
The menu features the type of food that works particularly well after spending some time on the motorcycle. Burgers, sandwiches, wings, appetizers, and other bar-and-grill favorites give you plenty of choices when you're ready to eat.
For a rider, that's an important part of finding a good stop. After spending a couple of hours on the road, sometimes you aren't looking for anything fancy. You want good food, a comfortable seat, and a place where you can relax and talk about the ride.
Making The Hill Part of the Ride
One of the easiest ways to turn an ordinary motorcycle ride into an adventure is to pick a restaurant as the destination.
Instead of simply riding around with no particular place to go, I can choose a restaurant like The Hill and build the ride around it. I can take some back roads, find a few roads I've never ridden, and eventually make my way to the restaurant.
The destination gives the ride a purpose, but getting there is still half the fun.
That's one of the reasons I enjoy documenting these restaurant stops. There are plenty of interesting places around the Charlotte area that make excellent motorcycle destinations.
The Bar & Grill Atmosphere
The Hill has the relaxed atmosphere you would expect from a neighborhood bar and grill.
It's a place where people can meet up with friends, grab something to eat, watch a game, or simply spend some time away from home. That casual environment also makes it a natural stop for motorcycle riders.
There's no need to turn a restaurant visit into an event. Park the motorcycle, head inside, order something good, and enjoy the break.
After spending time riding, that break can be just as important as the miles themselves.
Another Restaurant Ride
Every restaurant ride adds another destination to my list of places worth visiting.
Some restaurants stand out because of their history. Others are known for a particular dish. And some are simply great places to stop after a few hours on the motorcycle.
The Hill Bar & Grill falls into that last category.
It's a good reminder that you don't have to travel far to find an enjoyable motorcycle destination. There are interesting restaurants and local hangouts all around the Charlotte area, and exploring them gives me another reason to ride.
Get Out and Ride
For me, motorcycle riding has never been only about the destination. It's about the entire experience.
It's the sound of the motorcycle, the changing scenery, the roads that twist and turn, and the places you discover along the way.
Finding a place like The Hill Bar & Grill gives the ride another piece of the experience. It provides a place to stop, eat, relax, and maybe talk about where the motorcycle should go next.
So if you're looking for an excuse to get the bike out for a local ride, pick a destination and take the long way there.
You might just find another good place to eat along the way.
